Iron Maiden

Hmm.

I always thought of Hellfest as super extreme, you know?

Like, the one festival that was tougher than all the rest. It used to be like that, anyways.

Now, with the latest announcement of bands for 2014’s Hellfest, I’m starting to wonder if the bookers are thinking more about profits than prowess.

While they’ve announced Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath as headliners, they’ve also got Aerosmith ending one of the festival’s nights.

Aerosmith? Really?

Emperor should close every night, but that won’t be happening.

Slayer — or whatever’s passing for the band these days — has also been booked to play, along with Avenged Sevenfold.

Set for Clisson, France, from June 20 to June 22, the festival will also boast performances by Carcass, Watain, Behemoth, Vreid, and 1349.

Death To All will also be playing the fest, along with Trivium, Hatebreed, Iced Earth, Annihilator, Brutality Will Prevail, Conan, and Crowbar. Also playing are Dagoba, Dordeduh, Downfall Of Gaia, downset., Dozer, Equilibrium, Fueled By Fire, Gehenna, Impaled Nazarene and In Solitude.

Kataklysm, Last Resort, Loudblast, Lowrider, Mad Sin, Mars Red Sky, M.O.D., Nightmare, Powerwolf, The Church Of Pungent Stench, Repulsion, Satan’s Satyrs, Shining, Solstafir, Tagada Jones, Terror, Toxic Holocaust, Trollfest, Tsjuder, Ulcerate, Windir Sognametal, Weekend Nachos, Year Of The Goat and Zodiac round out the bill.
